Spirit of FlowArts Dojo

I want a Flow Arts Dojo: a place for the way of Flow, where I can share my knowledge of the Flow Arts and train together with others in a playful yet dedicated manner.

The Dojo is a state of mind. The more people come together and share this state of mind, this vision, the more manifest the Dojo will become. I want to take this state of mind with me and share it wherever I go… but right now I just so happen to be staying in Colorado, so this is where I’ll start!

Cost of the Flow Arts Dojo

A Dojo is cared for and maintained by the students. In this spirit, I want all costs (eg studio rentals) to be transparent. I want to share the costs evenly with the students. Bring your friends, so there are more people to have fun training with and keep the cost of training low. Come prepared to split the rental cost with me if you end up being the only one there (unlikely).
(For now Bret & Danielle’s house is free of charge)

Contribute to your Instructors

My personal goal is to have enough students donating so that I can make at least $100 per class for my years of teaching experience. This may take some time to build. If you feel you are financially stable enough to make the suggested donation, please do, as it helps me reach my goals and finance spreading flow arts. That said, I’d rather someone who is enthusiastic come and participate, even if you don’t feel you can donated any money right now. There are other things one can contribute.

The Classes

I’d like to run regular Poi class 2 times a week. As with many martial arts dojo’s I’ll start people out with the fundamentals, so we are on the same page. From there we will cycle through exploring different topics that can be broached on a variety of levels.  I conceive of poi as a variety of skills that one can level up in, rather than one set order in which you need to learn techniques. As you level up different skills they combine to open up higher-level skills. Much like open classes in other dojos or yoga studios, this means that a variety of skills can train the same skills together, wile focusing on their personal level.

Participate!

Nicky Evers is our assistant teacher!
Wile we find a more permanent location, Brett Wagner has most graciously volunteered his house in Golden Colorado.
